In recent months Queensland X-Ray patients and staff have bought and eaten their way through $6000 worth of chocolate… but it’s all been in aid of a good cause. Money has been raised for The Toowoomba Hospice which is a private, six-bed health care facility offering palliative care to those who have a terminal illness. Queensland X-Ray’s Ms Julie Abel, who organized the fundraiser, was on hand to present Mark Munro from the Toowoomba Hospice with a cheque for $6,000.00! Ms Abel wanted to thank every one who supported the Chocolate Drive “Sincere thanks to everyone who has helped raise this money, it’s for a really worthwhile cause and I hope that everyone has enjoyed eating the fruits of their labour.” Mr. Munro mentioned how important it was to have the support for businesses and organisations like Queensland X-Ray supporting the Hospice and he also wanted to reassure all who donate money to the hospice; that it stays here “The Hospice is a Local Charity and I am very proud to say that the money raised locally stays locally to support local families on the Downs and Lockyer Valley” Julie Abel and Mark Munro Checkout the Chocolates that have helped raise $6000.00 for the Toowoomba Hospice.

The Toowoomba Hospice has officially launched the Annual Darling Downs Free Dress Challenge for 2010! At the Launch, Hospice Chairman Mr Graham Barron OAM encouraged all businesses, clubs, organisations and schools to have a free dress day during the months of May and June to raise funds for the Toowoomba Hospice, “these funds will assist the daily operations of this important community facility providing palliative and respite care for all ages” The organisers of the Challenge have taken a slightly different angle this year with running the Challenge over a two month period instead of one week  Mr. Barron said “This gives the businesses, clubs, organisations and schools a wider time frame to hold their free dress day.  We would like to raise at least $5000 from this fundraiser.” A Digital Camera, DVD Player and Photographic Portraits are up for grabs for whoever raises the most money. To make it fair for all, especially the ones with a smaller number of participants, the organisers will divide the total money raised to obtain an average per person. L to R – Grant Reid, Kristy Jackson, Charlie Voss & Andrew McLintock from Downs Financial Services joined Mark Munro from the Toowoomba Hospice at the Launch of the Darling Downs Free Dress Challenge. Intending participants can contact Mark Munro, on 07 46598500 OR email admin.toowoombahospice@bigpond.com to register their business, club, organisation or school.
